Montefiascone Belvedere: the balcony that looks out over Tuscia to the sea
The Montefiascone Belvedere is one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Viterbo area of Tuscia. From here, you can take in the whole of Lake Bolsena — the largest volcanic lake in Europe — with its two islands, Martana and Bisentinah. On clear days, the view stretches all the way to Monte Amiata and the Tyrrhenian coast.
What to see nearby
From the Belvedere, it's a short walk down to the historic centre. Among the most distinctive spots in the town are the Cathedral of Santa Margherita, recognisable by its dome that dominates the town's skyline, and the Church of San Flaviano, a fine example of Romanesque-Gothic architecture on two levels. Just a few steps from the Belvedere is the Rocca dei Papi and its park, where you can enjoy a nice stroll.
