Overview
Larian
At the foot of the Maschio d'Ariano, a mountainous relief formerly known as Monte Algidus, and which in imperial times housed a Roman defence outpost and later a fortified castle, Lariano offers several nature excursions. But the truly special thing about this village is the local bread, made from soft wholewheat flour and mother yeast, double-leavened and baked in ovens fired by chestnut wood. The result is a dark bread with a fragrant golden crust and a full spongy crumb.
