Overview
Canterano is a village overlooking the Aniene valley, with very ancient origins - first Etruscan and then Roman - traces of which can still be found in the remains of the walls and Roman tombstones. Due to its strategic position, it was at the centre of historical events of great importance, which over the centuries have shaped its identity and influenced its urban planning. A place of great faith and spirituality, it preserves this essence in the many churches that can still be visited today. Finally, the local cuisine is not to be missed: to be sampled, the 'gifts of the woods' such as mushrooms and truffles, but also the 'fregnacce', wide and thick handmade fettuccine, and the 'pizza sorda', prepared with water and flour and cooked on the grill.
