Overview
Located in the Adriatic Sea between Italy and Slovenia, the Gulf of Trieste is a bay rich in history, tradition and natural beauty. An area that has been inhabited since antiquity, it has undergone the domination of various cultures over the centuries that have given rise to an important historical and artistic legacy, with several places of interest still present today, such as the Castle of Miramare, the Cathedral of San Giusto Martire and the Roman Theatre located within the capital of Friuli.
In addition to the city of Trieste, the absolute master of the Gulf, there are numerous municipalities ideal for spending a holiday, with well-equipped bathing establishments. Muggia is the perfect destination for water sports enthusiasts, particularly suitable for windsurfing and kitesurfing thanks to favourable winds from the sea.
From a nature point of view, the area offers a conspicuous variety of flora and fauna on land and in the sea, all to be discovered through excursions inland and along the coasts or diving in the various protected sites of the gulf, including hidden bays and coves.
