Scanzano Jonico

Overview

Scanzano Jonico, as its name suggests, is a village in Lucania that overlooks the Ionian Sea, a village that is immersed in a natural setting of great beauty, with its long, sandy beaches and clear sea, so blue to be enchanting. Precisely because of the charm of its panorama, Scanzano was chosen to shoot the last scene of the film 'Basilicata coast to coast', which recounts the intimate and authentic beauty of this land of mountains and sea. Scanzano is also art and culture, with the Palazzo Baronale and the proximity of Matera, European Capital of Culture 2019, but above all it is maritime essence. Here, in fact, is the only existing lighthouse in the whole of Basilicata, a symbol of life among the waves, a sailor's certainty, a sailor's refuge.
