Policoro

Overview

When one thinks of Policoro, the first things that come to mind are its sand dunes, the limpid water that astonishes for its beauty, the scent of saltiness and the marine atmosphere that one breathes everywhere. The town's historical and cultural highlights are not to be missed, such as the National Archaeological Museum of the Siritide located within the archaeological site of Heraclea; the Castle, a majestic and fortified building that recalls the town's medieval past; and the Bosco Pantano Nature Reserve. But what will remain imprinted in the traveller's memory will above all be the sea, perhaps admired at sunset, while enjoying an excellent barbecue of fresh fish accompanied by a glass of local wine.
