Prato Selva

Overview

An important crossroads within Gran Sasso National Park

A small ski resort at an altitude of 1,400 metres, Prato Selva is located in Fano Adriano, at the foot of the woods of Mount Corvo, on the Teramo side of the Gran Sasso. The area offers numerous sports activities, like hiking, snowshoeing and mountain biking, all surrounded by breath-taking views and pristine nature.

Its privileged location makes the area an ideal crossroads for easily reaching other neighbouring localities within the Gran Sasso National Park, like Prati di Tivo and Campo Imperatore. Prato Selva is also a stop on the itinerary of the Gran Sasso Horse Trail, an over 500-kilometre route crossing a large part of the park. Travelled mainly on horseback, with the help of expert guides, it is an unusual experience that will be extremely thrilling.

If, on the other hand, you are looking for a small medieval village and a slow, peaceful afternoon of exploration, we recommend a visit to Fano Adriano. Throughout the historic centre you will find artistic masterpieces of particular beauty, such as the parish church of SS. Peter and Paul, the Fonte della Cannalecchia and the Grignetti.
