Magliano de' Marsi

Overview

Magliano de' Marsi is located at the foot of the Monte Velino massif, immersed in a nature so uncontaminated that it seems never to have been touched by the hand of man. A territory with a very ancient history, the one in which the village stands, so much so that in its vicinity we can admire one of the most important archaeological sites in Italy, Alba Fucens. Alba Fucens was an ancient Roman city and within its walls we can see the remains of many buildings, including an amphitheatre, a temple and numerous houses. It is even said that Magliano was founded as a place where the workshops of the blacksmiths in the service of Alba Fucens were located: its name is said to derive from 'maglio' (hammer). Ancient history, art, nature and stories... there is no shortage of reasons to fall in love with this village!

Not to be missed, in the hamlet of Rosciolo, is the stupendous medieval church of Santa Maria in Valle Porclaneta, with its stupendous sculptural apparatus.
