Torre delle Stelle

Overview

Built in 1356 by Ruggero, Count of Celano, the medieval tower of Aielli, located at the highest point of the village, was converted into an astronomical observatory in 2002 and renamed Torre delle Stelle ("Tower of the Stars"). In addition to the observatory, it houses a Museo del Cielo ("Museum of the Sky"), a specialised scientific library and a planetarium capable of projecting 3,000 stars onto a 6-metre-diameter dome.
