Il museo racconta la storia di Monsummano Terme e della Valdinievole, documentando la trasformazione del paesaggio a seguito della bonifica del Padule di Fucecchio, la devozione al Santuario della Madonna della Fontenuova, e lla fioritura delle attività termali e industriali moderne. Il prestigio del museo è stato riconosciuto dal European Musuem Forum, che nel 2001 gli ha conferito una menzione speciale del premio EMYA (European Museum of the Year Award).
