The Via Romea Strata is an ancient route of faith and culture that once connected the Baltic Sea to Rome, crossing several European countries before continuing for over 1,000 km through Italy, including regions such as Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany and Lazio, before reaching the Eternal City.
The route enters Lazio after Tuscany and forms part of the final section that leads pilgrims to Rome, combining historic landscapes, villages, and religious and natural heritage with a slow, reflective walking experience.
Today, the Romea Strata is recognised as a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, symbolising dialogue between peoples and the long tradition of pilgrimages to Rome.
