Leaving Viterbo, the Via Romea Strata enters the Tuscia countryside, following ancient tracks through hazel groves, cultivated fields and stretches of woodland. The route is varied and pleasant, with gentle ups and downs through an authentic and quiet rural landscape, far from traffic.
Walking south, you gradually notice the change of scenery: the hills become softer and you enter the area of the Cimini mountains, characterised by denser, shadier vegetation. As you approach Ronciglione, you get panoramic views of the village, perched on a tuffaceous spur, with its historic centre of medieval origin.
It is a balanced stage, alternating open and panoramic stretches with more secluded sections in the greenery, ideal for those who love to walk immersed in nature without giving up the historical richness of the villages of Tuscia.
