"The Cammino di Ermenegildo" (also known as the Ermenegildo Trail), a three-day circular trek, 51 km in length with a total elevation gain of 2,020 metres, designed for intermediate-level hikers. The route crosses the symbolic sites of the Oasi Zegna, a mountain area of extraordinary environmental beauty shaped from the early twentieth century by the far-sighted vision of the entrepreneur Ermenegildo Zegna, the "solitary wanderer".

The Cammino di Ermenegildo is far more than just a hiking trail: it's a journey into the cultural and environmental identity of the region, following in the footsteps of a man who dedicated his life to making the mountains accessible, liveable and rich in opportunities for local communities. Over the three days of hiking – with a total estimated walking time of 16 hours – participants traverse a landscape of over 100 square kilometres composed of forests, high-altitude pastures, nature-immersed paths and spectacular views across the Po Plain and the Alpine arc. The Cammino has been conceived as an experience for those wishing to discover new horizons without undertaking an overly demanding route. It's ideal for mountain walkers, lovers of history and outdoor enthusiasts.
The Cammino di Ermenegildo – Stage 1
The route begins at the Zegna Centre in Trivero Valdilana and winds through woods and pastures until reaching Bocchetto Sessera, the point linking the Po Plain with the wild Valsessera. In these places, Ermenegildo Zegna walked the slopes on foot to map out the best route of the Panoramica Zegna, the road linking Trivero Valdilana to Bocchetto Sessera, before continuing on towards the picturesque Cervo Valley. Today, Bocchetto Sessera is the starting point for numerous excursions and an excellent stop to recharge at the inn of the same name.
The Cammino di Ermenegildo – Stage 2
The second circular stage begins and ends at Bocchetto Sessera, passing through Valsessera, a natural Site of Community Importance. Along the route you'll also encounter significant archaeological and mining sites, traces of the valley's historic extractive activity. At Bocchetto Sessera, don't miss the inscription dedicated to the "solitary wanderer", commemorating Ermenegildo Zegna and his passion for mountain walking.
The Cammino di Ermenegildo – Stage 3
The return follows ancient paths, mule tracks and forest roads laid out in the past during the construction of the Panoramica Zegna. It offers spectacular views over the wild Valsessera, Monte Rosa and the plain. Along the way you reach the Argimonia Inn, a place with a special charm: originally built as a construction hut to house workers and equipment during the excavation of the tunnels needed to overcome the rocky spur of Argimonia. The former explosives depot has, in recent years, been transformed into an elegant and welcoming chalet.
