The town of Revello, located at the start of the Po Valley, is located about an hour away from Turin. The town extends over a mainly flat territory on which stands Mombracco, or “Leonardo's mountain”, admired for its highly diverse agricultural, cultural and environmental heritage. In the historic centre stands a 15th-century Collegiate Church, whose façade features a fine Renaissance portal and whose interior houses precious altarpieces, two attributed to Pascale Oddone and one, from 1503, to Hans Clemer, nicknamed the Master of Elva and considered the man who brought the Renaissance to this area. Inside the cylindrical tower in the current town hall of Revello, once known as Castello Sottano and the favourite residence of the Marquises of Saluzzo, stands the entirely frescoed, late Gothic Chapel of the Marquises. The Naturalistic Museum of the Po River, suitable for all ages, offers interesting dioramas that describe, in a single room, the whole Monviso Park, with its environments and animals, from the mountains to the plains. The Abbey of Santa Maria di Staffarda is located about 9 km from Revello, at the start of the Monviso Valleys. Founded by the Cistercian monks in 1135, it is situated on the plain, close to the Po River. On entering the town, you will feel like you are travelling back in time, entering a corner of the Middle Ages spared from modernity. Nature lovers can explore Mombracco, “Leonardo's mountain”, with easy, well signposted trails accessible on foot or by mountain bike, which lead to the discovery of the Fort of Bramafam, many small chapels, picnic areas, the ruins of the ancient Soprano Castle and panoramic views over the entire plain. Among the local products are mustaccioli, diamond-shaped biscuits originally from Revello. Pale violet in colour and with a spiced wine flavour, these confections can still be found in bakeries and pastry shops. Cujette from the Po Valley are handmade gnocchi that pair to perfection with Alpine Castelmagno cheese or with basil. Revello's sweet asparagus is a fine variety popular both in Italy and abroad. Among the town’s events, the Feast of San Biagio, which coincides with Carnival, has an extensive schedule of different types of evenings, all bound by a celebration of the local territory, history and traditions. The Feast of San Rocco, in the second half of August, offers four days of events, shows and concerts, and ends with a fantastic fireworks display.
