Overview
Rising among the gentle hills dominated by the Dosso del Cerreto, the ancient village of Bienno still welcomes visitors with its ancient atmospheres thanks to a historical centre that almost perfectly preserves the original medieval urban structure, with its ancient towers and noble palaces. Bienno has always been known for its iron working and the skill of its craftsmen is the protagonist of the 'Handicraft and Antiques Market Exhibition', which every year in August recounts this art and ancient working methods. And it is precisely thanks to iron and the economy it has created that it has been possible for this village to realise its splendid architecture, from medieval to 18th century, made even more precious by the contribution of artists such as Romanino and Da Cemmo, who have adorned the Church of Santa Maria with their frescoes.
