Overview
Among the hills of Piacenza
To the north-east of Piacenza, bordering the Parma hills, lies the Val d’Arda, where the gently rolling hills of Piacenza create a picture-perfect landscape. It is home to some of the most beautiful castles in the whole of Emilia-Romagna, as well as villages offering surprises at every turn, including Fiorenzuola d’Arda.
You can begin at the Collegiate Church of San Fiorenzo, in Piazza Molinari. To retrace the history of Fiorenzuola, we recommend visiting the former church of San Giovanni, which over the centuries has been used as a courthouse, barracks and prison, and now houses the town hall and municipal library.
If you love the theatre, check the calendar of the beautiful Giuseppe Verdi Theatre for an unforgettable performance. Countless folkloric events keep centuries-old traditions alive, including the historic Zobia carnival and the Easter game of punta e cul.
You can finish your visit by discovering the flavours of Piacenza, from anolini pasta in broth with cheese to cold cuts accompanied by gnocco fritto (fried dumplings).
