Pescocostanzo

Overview

A slow-paced, colourful way of life

Pescocostanzo is a pearl of southern Italy, in the heart of Abruzzo.
Classified among Italy’s most beautiful villages, this delightful location in the province of L’Aquila lies in the mountains and is an ideal year-round destination: in winter for its enchanting snow and in summer for its mild climate.

In the heart of the Maiella National Park and the Altipiani Maggiori, Pescocostanzo is the perfect destination to discover Abruzzo while immersing yourself in beauty and nature, among churches, hermitages, mountain trails and ski resorts. Even the village itself is full of surprises. The white and grey stone street runs through the village centre, from the Villa Comunale to the Basilica of Santa Maria del Colle, Piazza del Municipio and the Church of Sant’Antonio Abate, to the Colle di Santa Maria park, where you can sit on a bench admiring the breath-taking landscape.

The village features a succession of artisan shops, workshops where wrought iron is crafted, goldsmiths' workshopsart galleries and traditional houses from the 16th and 17th centuries, with exterior steps adorned with pink and fuchsia flowers. Pescocostanzo is authentic, uncluttered, colourful and quiet, making it the ideal place to experience village life, with its slow pace.
