Montesilvano

Overview

A pretty town in Abruzzo, less than ten kilometres from Pescara, Montesilvano is actually divided into two urban agglomerations: Montesilvano Colli, the oldest part, and Montesilvano Marina, the area on the coast.

The small medieval village stands on high ground and is characterised by cobbled streets, historic buildings and beautiful old churches. The coastal centre, on the other hand, is more rational and modern. Developing in the mid-19th century thanks to the opening of the Adriatic railway and the railway station, it is lively and dynamic and characterised by a thriving tourist industry. An ideal destination for those who want to take a trip through history, nature and relaxation, Montesilvano allows easy access to other points of interest in the area such as the Maiella Park and the Gran Sasso National Park, as well as being one of the best seaside resorts in the region.

With the construction of the \'Stella Matutina\' colony on the Aldo Moro seafront during the Fascist period, the town became a favoured and popular holiday resort for its wide sandy shore with soft, golden sand, clear waters and shallow waters.

The Santa Filomena pine forest and the system of artificial reefs protecting the entire seafront make it one of Abruzzo\'s most sought-after lidos. The well-organised coastline between areas of free beach and areas with bathing establishments, services, bars and restaurants, have repeatedly secured it the Blue Flag and Green Flag status as a location suitable for families with children.

The Ciclovia Adriatica then, also known as the Adriatic Green Corridor, offers the possibility of reaching Pescara via an 8 km route along a coastline with breathtaking views.
