Castelli

Overview

Castelli is immersed in the uncontaminated nature of the Teramo Apennines, on a spur at the foot of Mount Camicia, on the edge of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park territory.

The village is known as the 'Pottery Capital of Abruzzo', a must-see for all art lovers: one of the places not to be missed is the country church of S. Donato, embellished by the marvellous ceiling composed of 780 votive bricks, decorated with profiles, coats of arms, astronomical symbols, animals and brightly coloured floral motifs.

In addition, Castelli is a good starting point for excursions to the peaks of the Gran Sasso d'Italia massif, such as Mount Camicia (2750 m) or the Campo Imperatore Plateau, where there are also ski facilities and hundreds of trails.
