Overview
Gallerie dell'Accademia the home of art in Venice
The largest collection of Venetian art in the world
The Gallerie dell'Accademia are located in the Dorsoduro district and comprise three spaces and historic buildings: the Church of Santa Maria della Carità, its monastery, and the Scuola Grande di Santa Maria della Carità. An architectural complex that turns into a treasure chest of a hugely important artistic heritage: it is home to the largest and most important collection of Venetian art in the world, with masterpieces by the most famous painters from the 1300s to the 1700s. Tintoretto, Titian, Carpaccio and Il Veronese are just some of the prestigious names on show in this fascinating place - the symbol of Venetian art. The Gallerie dell'Accademia - but only at certain times of year – even allows visitors to admire Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man.
