Overview
Nestled in the evocative natural and archaeological area of Cava d'Ispica, in the Ragusa region, in southeast Sicily, is the Pernamazzoni educational farm.
A “REFUGE” IN THE PICTURESQUE CAVA D'ISPICA (RAGUSA)
This long, narrow gorge, which runs for 14 km, is home to prehistoric necropolises, monastic hermitages, Christian catacombs, rock oratories and ancient settlements. The Pernamazzoni farm covers about 26 hectares in the northern part of the valley, entirely made up of terraces, cultivated with carob, olive and fruit trees, citrus, medlar, persimmon, walnut and almond trees. Ispica sesame, herbs, capers, thyme, oregano, nepitella and wild fennel are produced here.
Agricultural production is complemented by educational and recreational services. Horse riding, environmental education courses for schools, educational beekeeping, and the possibility of a stay in the refuge.
