In 2025 Sicily was confirmed as one of the most virtuous Italian regions for the quality of its waters and beach services, obtaining no fewer than 14 Blue Flags awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education. Awarded are both coastal resorts and tourist landings, a symbol of commitment to environmental sustainability and land development. The two new entries of the year are Messina and Nizza di Sicilia, joining already recognized beaches such as those of Marina di Ragusa, Menfi, Taormina, Pozzallo, Scicli and many others. The province of Messina leads the regional ranking with nine award-winning beaches. Also reconfirmed are Capo d'Orlando Marina and Marina del Nettuno, excelling in the environmental management of tourist landings. One more reason to choose Sicily as a beach vacation destination under the banner of quality and sustainability.
