Overview
The enchanted valley really exists and is located in the upper Seriana Valley. The Valbondione area offers emotions to be experienced in both summer and winter.
In fine weather, a must-do trip is to the Serio Waterfalls, the highest in Italy with a total of 315 metres, divided into three spectacular drops. Circle the opening days in red because the maximum water flow is only visible five times a year, including once at night. Legend has it that the waterfall is fed by the tears of a young woman in love.
At the beginning of June, the Orobie Vertical calls together all trekking professionals for a breathtaking race in the literal meaning of the word: one thousand metres of altitude difference to be covered only uphill from Valbondione to the Coca-Merelli refuge. If, on the other hand, you are a football fan, you should know that Atalanta's usual summer training camp is held in the Seriana Valley, from Rovetta to Clusone, the birthplace of president Antonio Percassi.
Good news also for those who prefer the mountains with snow: Valbondione offers the Lizzola ski resort.
