Seriana Valley Cycle Path

Overview

A bike tour through forests and streams along the Serio River

Surround yourself with nature on the outskirts of Bergamo and discover the woods, streams and small villages of the Seriana Valley while cycling, following the course of the Serio river thanks to a 35-kilometre cycle path that connects Ranica to Clusone. This is the long and meandering Seriana Valley Cycle Route, which partly follows the old railway decommissioned in 1967.

Ideal for a day trip, either solo or with the whole family, the Seriana Valley Cycle Route does not have any major differences in altitude and its main section is on asphalt or beaten earth. It is also perfect for those who are pedalling for the first time on a bicycle and are looking for a route that is easy to tackle and full of interesting stages.

Along the path, through the mountains of the Seriana Valley, we ride through Alzano Lombardo, Nembro and Albino, the largest town in the area, and continue northeast through Cene, Verteva, Casnigo and Ponte Rossa, before reaching Clusone amidst evocative examples of industrial archaeology, sanctuaries, and buildings of particular value such as Palazzo Tadini in Lovere and the Church of San Lorenzo in Albino.

A second section of the Seriana Valley Cycle Route, suitable for more experienced cyclists, starts in the Clusone area. In 24 kilometres, you reach Valbondione through Piario, Ardesio and Gandellino with some sections on gravel roads and a maximum altitude of almost 900 metres.
