Overview
There are so many cycle routes around the city of Bergamo that take cycle tourists to discover the green countryside of Lombardy, including villages, rivers, natural parks and delightful hamlets to admire on two wheels. One of these, ideal for an out-of-town excursion in spring and autumn, is the Cloverleaf bike route that winds its way through the Terre del Vescovado (Bishop's Lands) starting from the Oasi Verde park in Seriate, easily reached by train from Bergamo.
The route, which is also suitable for the less experienced despite some gravel surface, is 57 kilometres long, but can also be tackled in part in its shorter version of 43 kilometres to the town of Gorle.
Those who wish to walk the route in its entirety will walk along the banks of the Serio river and the Morla stream, up to Torre de Roveri and tackle the hills on the slopes of Mount Misma. You will consistently find agritourism farmhouses, wineries and forests along the route. The last section, the one that leads to the Parco Dei Colli, winds its way along secondary roads and cycle paths to the walls of Bergamo's Upper City.
