Hadrian's Villa

Overview

Hadrian's Villa history, nature and beauty

An enormous historical and archaeological heritage immersed in nature.

Hadrian's Villa, a wonderful jewel set in the heart of Tivoli, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site visited every year by huge numbers of tourists. Built by Emperor Hadrian, it extended over 120 hectares of land (about 40 hectares can be visited today). It included residential structures, spas, gardens, nymphaeums and several inter-connected buildings. The Villa has always been renowned for its architectural beauties and many of the original works are currently displayed in various museums and collections in Rome and Europe. As archaeaological testimony of the greatness of the Roman Empire, it is one of the most visited sites in Italy.
