Overview
It is impossible to see it and not stop to admire it. Located in the centre of the famous Piazza di Spagna and right at the foot of the staircase. It reproduces a symmetrical semi-submerged boat and, to overcome the technical problem of low water pressure, it was built slightly below ground level. It was commissioned by Urban VIII in 1629 to Pietro Bernini, helped by his son Gian Lorenzo, in memory of the historic flooding of the Tiber in 1598.
