Depending on the golf course on which you are playing, you might enjoy the post-round meal more than the golf itself!

Although the swing might disappoint, dinner at the best golf clubs in Italy certainly won't.

Golf and food go hand in hand and, after a tee-off, there is nothing better than sitting down to enjoy a superb lunch or dinner. So that is why we have put together this list of golf resorts that have excellent restaurants, to be tried once in a lifetime.

Golf della Montecchia, just outside Padua, was founded in 1988 and features a Championship Course designed by English architect Tom Macaulay, hosting Challenge and Alps Tour events.

On the first floor of the Club House is the restaurant 'La Montecchia'. Breathtaking sunsets can be enjoyed from the restaurant's terrace, which overlooks the putting green. On the ground floor is the 'La Montecchia Green' restaurant and bar, where you can enjoy a more informal dining experience surrounded by greenery.

Immersed in the greenery of the Collio Goriziano, the 18-hole course of the Castello di Spessa Golf & Country Club winds its way through gentle ups and downs dotted with vineyards and olive groves. Inside is the Hosteria del Castello restaurant, immersed in the tranquillity of the golf course, with a low-key and informal atmosphere, also ideal for a quick lunch.

The Villa d'Este Golf Club, opened in 1927, is the 7th oldest golf club in Italy, and one of the most renowned in the world. Since 1928, Golf Villa d'Este on the outskirts of Como has been the stage for the Italian Open twelve times, boasting the distinction of being the club in Italy with the most editions played.

Inside the Club House, which exudes history and refinement, or on the panoramic terrace overlooking the greenery and from which you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama, you will find the restaurant, to savour those moments of relaxation and conviviality.

The oldest golf course in Piedmont and second in Italy, the Couturbier Golf Course was founded in 1898 near a 17th-century castle in the province of Novara. The modern 27-hole course, occupying over one million square metres, was created by expanding the historic course and has twice hosted the prestigious Italian Open. Inside there is a restaurant with a large, covered terrace and a magnificent view of the holes. Here you can enjoy the specialities of regional and international cuisine and prestigious labels from the wine cellar.

The San Valentino Golf Club in Castellarano (RE) boasts 23 holes that create two 18-hole courses surrounded by greenery and crossed by no less than four lakes. Inside is the Ristorante il Golfino, with fresh ingredients, where the authenticity of the produce is combined with the typical cuisine of the Emilia region, reinterpreted in a modern key.

The Terme di Saturnia Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course and a large driving range with 43 tees. The elegant structure of the Terme di Saturnia hotel houses the Club House, a typical Tuscan farmhouse with an enchanting panoramic view, where the trattoria La Stellata is located. Let yourself be enticed by the more traditional Tuscan cuisine: bruschette, platters and grilled meat will not disappoint.

The Conero Golf Club was inaugurated in 1992 and is located in the Conero Park, in the municipality of Sirolo. Six thousand metres of pure golfing pleasure. The course itself has 18 holes. Inside is the Elis Marchetti Golf Club Sirolo Restaurant, which will take you on a journey through the gastronomic tradition of the Marche region.

The Rome Acquasanta Golf Club is one of the oldest and most prestigious in Italy. The first document attesting to the existence of this enchanting place dates back to 12 January 1903.

The 18-hole course is truly spectacular and unique, while the clubhouse welcomes guests in a distinctly British ambience, with two restaurants and an outdoor swimming pool.

9. Golf Club in Sardinia: Pevero Club

Pevero Club is located in Porto Cervo, nestled in the Emerald Coast. It is an 18-hole course designed by architect Robert Trent Jones and has hosted numerous international events, including the Italian Open in 1978. Inside is the Ai Due Mari Restaurant, with a scenic terrace overlooking the holes and the bay, and offering light cuisine of the finest quality.

The Acaya golf club, on the road between San Cataldo and Otranto, is a beautiful 18-hole course surrounded by Mediterranean scrub. Surrounded by the Acaya golf course and the WWF Cesine Reserve, the San Pietro restaurant offers simple but excellent cuisine, inspired by the rich local tradition.
