Lama dei Peligni

Overview

Rising at the foot of Mount Amaro and at the foot of the Majella National Park, Lama, whose name hints at its very ancient origins, recalling the term 'lamatura', which means 'land where water stagnates'. In the village, the Renaissance church dedicated to St. Nicholas and St. Clement and the two fountains made of white Majella stone that welcome travellers at the entrances to the village, a hospitality that starts with the material itself and involves everything. And then there is the village's green heart, a living, beating, archaic heart, recounted above all in three sites: the "M. Locati" Naturalistic-Archaeological Museum, the botanical garden where some 500 Majella plants are kept, and the Chamois wildlife area, places that bring us back in touch with the authenticity of the land.
