Overview
Monte Serra Comune is a ridge in the Ernici mountains, which span Lazio and Abruzzo, between the provinces of Frosinone and L'Aquila. On the Lazio side, your excursion starts in the municipality of Veroli.
A clay footpath leads into the dense beech forest, dotted with countless border stones marking the boundary between the Church State and the Kingdom of Naples, and then continues along the ridge, offering a unique panorama.
Pushing on to the top of the slope, you come to a smaller peak and then there is an almost flat section leading to the summit of Serra Comune, with an entrancing view of the vast panorama sweeping across Abruzzo and the whole of lower Lazio.
