Casalbordino

Overview

Inhabited since pre-Roman times, this area has always been a point of passage for flocks during the transhumanceto the milder pastures of Puglia.

The ancient village stands on a hill about 6 km from the coast and still preserves the remains of the city walls and some noble palaces, such as Palazzo Magnarapa and Palazzo De Arcangelis. Certainly worth a visit is the Chiesa Madre of San Salvatore, built in the 14th century, and the Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Miracoli, visited and described by Gabriele D’Annunzio in his work \'The Triumph of Death\'.

Other stops not to be missed are the visit to the Parish Church of the Most Holy Saviour and the ruins of the Abbey of Santo Stefano in Rivomaris, an ancient abbey from the 6th century.

If the old town fascinates us with its history and art, the more modern part of the city, developed along the coast, attracts us with its large and well-equipped beach.

The Lido di Casalbordino, located along the picturesque Costa dei Trabocchi, is a popular seaside resort not too far from the town of Vasto. A sandy beach equipped with all services and clear and crystalline waters with depths that go down slowly, offering tourists the chance to relax in full harmony with welcoming and lush nature. The coastline is flanked by a pine forest with a beautiful cycle-pedestrian path that leads to the Marine Nature Reserve of Punta Aderci.
