The eleventh stage winds through Ciociaria, the land of ancient traditions, excellent food and historical villages, following a trail in the forest within the “Parco dei Monti Simbruini” along the course of the Aniene River. On the way, we can admire enchanting natural beauties, such as the small crystal-clear Lake of San Benedetto, nicknamed “The Caribbean of Rome”. Also noteworthy is the Trevi Waterfall, one of the most beautiful cascades in Italy, immersed in the woods, from where the largest Roman acqueduct, the Anio Novus, once originated. Finally, we arrive in Trevi nel Lazio, a village of very ancient origins, which, thanks to its water abundance, enjoyed great prestige in Roman times, enough to earn the title of Augusta, only awarded to the most important towns. Here we can visit the Caetani Castle, founded around the year 1000, and the fifteenth-century Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta, with its majestic organ from 1634.
