Overview
The temple of two-wheelers
Inaugurated in 2003, the Museo dei Campionissimi in Novi Ligure is still considered Europe’s largest cycling museum, an important homage to the world of two wheels and its protagonists, inextricably linked to the town in the province of Alessandria. Costante Girardengo was born here and Fausto Coppi was an honorary citizen.
The museum covers a 3,000 square metre area, a former industrial warehouse from the early 20th century in the heart of the city. The permanent exhibition traces the history of the bicycle, from first prototype designed by Leonardo da Vinci to most modern models. Take a closer look at the 40 specimens occupying the central 'track', while rooms dedicated to the history of the Giro d'Italia and temporary exhibitions open up on either side.
A museum that can speak to everyone, from competitive cyclists to those who prefer unpretentious riding. It will make you want to get in the saddle, cycling to discover the territory.
