Overview
The 46th edition of Vinum, Italy’s largest open-air wine shop, returns to the city of Alba back from April 25 to 28, May 1, 4 and 5. The event promotes Piedmont’s food and wine specialities, with more than 700 labels for tasting and around 400 producers, with local street food to pair with the wines. Wine connoisseurs and wine enthusiasts will meet on the hills of Langhe and Roero to admire the beauty of the landscape and vineyards, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.
Guests will be able to attend tastings at various locations in the city centre of Alba. The G. Morra Exhibition and Convention Centre will host “The great red wines of the Langhe”, starting with the iconic Barolo DOCG and Barbaresco DOCG. Piazza Bubbio will host “The white wines of the Langhe”, accompanied by street food. Cortile della Maddalena will host a wine tasting of delights from the Barbera d’Asti e Vini del Monferrato Consortium, Gavi Protection Consortium, and Brachetto d’Acqui Protection Consortium. There will also be international wines from all over the world. Finally, Piazza San Paolo will feature Asti Spumante DOCG and Moscato d’Asti DOCG, along with Dolcetto, Street Food ëd Langa and Nocciola Piemonte IGP.
To discover the secrets of the appellations, the Cortile della Maddalena will host Vinum Lab, a packed schedule of events and master classes in collaboration with AIS Piemonte, and cheese tastings guided by ONAF.
At Roddi Castle, through theoretical-practical courses, you will be taught the traditional recipes of Langhe, Monferrato and Roero, while tasting iconic dishes created by exceptional chefs.
The seven-day Vinum event also features a daily VinumInCantina - Food&Wine Experience, offering the opportunity to visit some of the most important wine cellars of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato selected by great chefs who will prepare a special aperitif paired with the wine of the host winery at the end of the tour.
