Petriano

Overview

Historically linked to the Montefeltro family, the small village of Petriano sees to born its name (Prae tres amnes: above three rivers) to the presence of three watercourses that cross its territory: the Apsa, the Tagliatesta and the Razzo. Strolling through the characteristic historical centre, it is worth visiting the Church of San Martino, the oldest in the town, the Church of Santa Maria in Calafria, the Oratory of the Most Holy Conception; the Church of San Gallo; the Church of S. Giovanni Battista di Riceci and the wayside shrine of the Madonna dei Sodi. Finally, Petriano is known for the Terme di Raffaello (Raphael Baths) and their beneficial waters rich in minerals, sulphur and bicarbonate.
