Overview
A village close to the Monti Sibillini Park, Comunanza is known as the village of longevity due to the high number of centenarians living there.
Situated high above the valley of the Aso River, it was certainly an ancient Roman settlement.
Revived in the fourteenth century, it saw great development in the last century thanks to the numerous companies that set up their industries in its territory.
Arriving in Comunanza, we are struck by the picturesque houses built overhanging the river, the walls, the access bridge with the Church of Santa Caterina di Alessandria, the 13th-century Church of San Francesco and the Church of Santa Maria terme, dating back to the 9th century and founded on a temple dedicated to Dionysus, with its richly decorated façade.
Don't miss the Bird Fair and the Mazzumaja, two events that, like the living nativity scene on 26 December, involve the entire town and attract many tourists.
