Overview
The PalaRossini is the Cittadella dello Sport in Ancona, having opened on 6 December 1992. The PalaRossini (PalaPrometeo Estra) is a multi-purpose facility found in the Passo Varano district, on the southern outskirts of the Marche capital city. With the nearby Del Conero Stadium, it makes up the Ancona Sports Citadel, an area that includes several facilities capable of hosting sporting events, concerts, shows, and other cultural events. Named after the multiple Olympic champion from Ancona, Liano Rossini, thanks to its location in the Conero countryside, it was nicknamed by Bruno Pizzul as "the crown jewel in Italian sport". The arena is named after Galliano Rossini, an Olympic shooter from Ancona, who won the gold medal in Melbourne 1956 and silver in Rome 1960.
