Valle dei mulini

Overview

Wooden bridges, footbridges and waterfalls in Valsassina

A popular destination for families and trekking enthusiasts, the Valle dei Mulini is a green trail immersed in the natural landscapes of Valsassina, in the province of Lecco. It climbs from Cortenova up to the Bogani Mountain Hut, in the heart of the Grignone, one of Lecco’s most famous mountains, which on clear days can be seen from as far as Milan. The route winds along the river, past wooden bridges, footbridges and small waterfalls. For families with younger children, we recommend visiting the Crot de Darden, a cave named after the presence of sparrowhawks that nest there.

A refreshment stop at the Bogani Mountain Hut is a must. Typical dishes of the area, which you simply must try, include Ravioli di Sant’Antonio, also known as Ravioli di Esino Lario, prepared with a potato-based dough and stuffed with meat, cheese and a hint of amaretto. Let yourself be tempted by a slice of Torta Grigna, a sweet tribute to the giant mountain overlooking the lake, with the scent of hazelnuts, almonds and coffee — the ideal ending to a day immersed in nature.
