The Forum was the beating heart of the political and civil life of Ancient Rome. It was the administrative centre of the city comprising a series of buildings, monuments, streets and squares where the public life of Rome took place. The Forum is home to the remains of the Temple of Vespasian and Titus, the Temple of Antoninus Pius and Faustina, the Arch of Septimius Severus, the imposing Basilica on the Velia built by Emperor Maxentius and the Column of Phocas.
