From 15 to 17 May 2026, Falconara Marittima will once again host the fifth edition of FalComics, the pop culture festival that transforms the entire town into a vast, city-wide experience encompassing comics, music, gaming, cinema and cosplay. For three days, the town's streets, squares and parks will become interconnected themed spaces, bringing to life a true 'festival town' that will engage both residents and visitors in a wide-ranging and varied programme.
The theme chosen for 2026 is 'Wonder', an invitation to rediscover wonder and awe through the languages and imagery of contemporary pop culture. Illustrator Elena Casagrande will provide the visual interpretation of this theme, and she will also be the focus of a dedicated exhibition and will be present throughout the event in the Artist Alley, one of the festival's creative hubs featuring over thirty artists, talks and live activities.
The programme is structured around various themed areas: from the Artist Alley to the Music Village, and from the Media Zone to the Community Village, right through to the areas dedicated to board games, eSports and cinema with the Pop Screen Fest. With concerts, talks, exhibitions, workshops and immersive activities, each space offers different experiences for audiences of all ages.
Confirmed guests include Cristina D'Avena and Giorgio Vanni for the music, as well as the Japanese illustrator Yuji Kaida, who will be making his first appearance in Italy at FalComics 2026. Known as the 'kaiju painter', Kaida has helped shape the visual imagery of entire generations, creating some of the most iconic depictions of Godzilla over the past forty years and working on famous franchises such as Gundam, Ultraman and Macross. During the festival, he will take part in talks, interviews and meet-and-greet sessions, as well as leading a masterclass for a limited number of participants, organised in collaboration with MIND Academy. Also expected are director Lamberto Bava and artist Alessio Ventura, along with other key figures from the national and international pop scene. With free admission and a wide-ranging, non-stop programme, FalComics once again proves to be one of the leading events for pop culture in Italy.
