The Val di Neto cycle path is an ideal “green” infrastructure for exploring the Val di Neto, crossing the provinces of Cosenza and Crotone. Approximately 38 km following the Neto River to the Ionian Sea, linking six municipalities for a fascinating mix of natural beauty, archaeological sites, ghost towns, castles and some of Italy’s most beautiful villages: Caccuri, Belvedere di Spinello, Santa Severina, Rocca di Neto, Scandale and Strongoli.

The trail runs along an old mule track, now with information signs and equipped rest stops. In 2024 it was runner-up at the Italian cycling Oscars. It also joins the Parks Cycle Path, creating a direct link between parks and coast.

The route starts in Caccuri, famous for its imposing medieval castle and the Bruciarello sulphurous water pools, an area where you can enjoy natural therapeutic mud baths.

Continuing on, cross the futuristic San Rocco cycle and pedestrian bridge that fits seamlessly into the surrounding natural landscape. Along the route are wooden huts for wildlife observation and starting points for rafting and kayaking.

In Rocca di Neto, you can admire the archaeological site of Acherenthia and the rock caves: more than 40 cavities carved into the sandstone, with paintings bearing witness to human presence in the past.

On towards the sea, you pass Scandale and Strongoli, dominated by its castle. The Tesauro Stone is worth a visit before you end the tour.

Finally, the last stretch leads to one of Calabria's most beautiful views: the Ionian Sea.
