Overview
Today, home to exhibitions and temporary exhibitions, the fortress was built in 1027 and rebuilt by the Aragonese in the 15th century, of which only two cylindrical towers and a short stretch of wall remain. But the castle remains one of the symbols of the history of Reggio Calabria, of the resistance to Turkish attacks in the 16th-17th centuries and of the clash between Garibaldi and Bourbon in 1860.
