The 44 km section of the cycle path from Martinsicuro to Silvi Marina is part of the larger “Bike to Coast” project of the Abruzzo Region. 131 km from the border with the Marche region to the border with Molise. This route is a short bike ride to the seven localities of the so-called Costa Giardino and, thanks to the railway stations along the way, you can plan a comfortable return trip by train. A protected route offering picturesque views of the Adriatic Sea and its beautiful beaches, with the possibility to stop off for a cooling dip in fine weather.

From Martinsicuro to Tortoreto

Starting from Martinsicuro, where the Roman site Castrum Truentum once stood, the cycle path runs beside the sea, through Alba Adriatica to Tortoreto. Roman history is also the backdrop here: the village is home to a Domus dating back some 2,200 years.

From Giulianova to Silvi alta

From Giulianova to Silvi alta

The next stop is Giulianova, with characteristic protected areas and landscapes of pristine beauty such as the Borsacchio Regional Nature Reserve. 8 km further ahead, you come to Roseto degli Abruzzi, where you can choose to visit the breathtaking medieval village of Montepaganico, a lovely village with a breathtaking panorama.

The cycle route continues to Pineto with its Torre del Cerrano, a tower located within a Protected Marine Area of the same name with pine forests, fine sandy beach and Kentish plover nesting sites. One last push on the pedals takes you to Silvi and the ancient village of Silvi Alta with panoramic views over the Conero promontory, the peaks of Gran Sasso and the Tremiti Islands.

If you wish, Bike to Coast continues with several breaks for another 88 km to San Salvo, crossing the Costa dei Trabocchi and its picturesque buildings overlooking the sea.
