Rotonda a mare

Overview

Historic seaside resort in Senigallia

An elegant seaside resort attested as early as the end of the 19th century for hydrotherapeutic and recreational purposes before it was Rotonda a Mare of Senigalliaas it is today. It dates back to the 1930s and is typically rationalist in style with a platform with a large covered canopy and a large raised terrace, designed by engineer Enrico Cardelli.

The 1950s and 1960s were the period of greatest splendour, when it rose to the status of a temple of worldliness and a place of entertainment. This is where the greatest artists of Italian pop music shone. After alternating fortunes that saw it renovated and later destroyed by fire, it remained closed due to inaccessibility until 2006, when it once again became a landmark for entertainment in the area and a symbol of the city's vitality. Today it holds exhibitions, conferences and events of various kinds. It is also possible to rent the space for weddings. The structure is open free of charge from June to September.

Along the sea you can practice various water sports from kitesurfing to windsurfing to diving. In the nearby dock, marine biology and underwater photography courses are also available. In addition, the city has an equestrian centre and an area near the airport for parachuting.
