FIAT Historical Centre
The journey begins at the FIAT Historical Centre, which is very easy to reach by getting off at the Dante metro station. Here, in an elegant Art Nouveau building – a fine example of industrial architecture – Fiat's first workshop was established in the early 20th century. Today, this building houses the Fiat Historical Centre, a truly unique attraction off the usual tourist routes, now managed by the National Automobile Museum. Inside, historic cars, sketches, advertising posters, works of art and an extensive archive document over a century of Italian industrial history.
From here, a leisurely stroll through the greenery of Valentino Park will take you to MAUTO, which can also be reached by public transport and by metro, getting off at the Lingotto stop, a 10-minute walk from the museum.
MAUTO – National Automobile Museum of Turin
With over 200 cars from 80 brands from all over the world, MAUTO is an essential stop for anyone visiting Turin. From late 19th-century steam carriages to 1950s design masterpieces, from racing cars to futuristic concept cars, each model tells a story of innovation, passion and ingenuity. The exhibition itinerary spans technology, art, visual culture and the collective imagination, offering a captivating journey through technological evolution, social transformations and visions of the future. In the summer, the MAUTO Café welcomes visitors with outdoor tables and views of the park: the perfect break amidst beauty and history.
Pista 500 and the Agnelli Art Gallery
The third and final stop features the Lingotto, one of Europe’s most iconic car factories, built between 1916 and 1923. On the roof, there is a true marvel – the Pista 500, a one-of-a-kind test track that is still usable. It is a garden suspended between the sky and the city, which can also be explored on foot, as well as a contemporary art hub featuring site-specific installations housed within the exhibition spaces of the Pinacoteca Agnelli. By reservation, MAUTO and the Pinacoteca Agnelli periodically organise exclusive joint tours, during which historic cars are once again driven on the legendary track.
Finally, for true enthusiasts, it is possible to visit the Stellantis Heritage Hub by appointment from Friday to Sunday, located in the former Officina 81 at Mirafiori, which has now been converted into an exhibition and operational space. This extraordinary venue tells the story of the car manufacturer, featuring over 300 vehicles from the Fiat, Lancia, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Autobianchi and Jeep brands. Rounding out the exhibition are a section dedicated to historic engines, a collection of Fiats built for the Carabinieri corps, and a wealth of interesting exhibits for car design enthusiasts and aficionados.
