Overview
Villa Margherita, with its greenery, overlooks Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, a sort of watershed between the old city and that of the 19th-century expansion. It is the city's public gardens. Before entering, take a look at the fountain that stands on the square, with the bronze Triton group in the centre. The villa's luxuriant park has so many unusual-looking and tropical tree species, including twisted ficus, palms, and pines, that the municipality has created a botanical trail there. In summer, the central forecourt becomes an open-air venue where the people of Trapani gather to attend opera concerts, ballets and plays during the Trapani July Music Festival.
