Overview
After passing the Cala fish market, you can see the remains of the Arab-Norman castle built in the 9th century, subsequently home to the viceroys of Sicily until the 16th century. Largely demolished in the twentieth century due to the expansion of the port, it was hit by bombing during World War II. Today, it is a venue for temporary exhibitions.
