NABUCCO

A dark tragedy of domination and family drama, the opera recounts the enslavement of the Jewish people in Babylon, as well as the conflict between Nabucco's daughters Abigaille and Fenena, and the King's own conversion to the God of Israel, through which he ultimately frees the oppressed people.
With a new production by Belgian director Paul-Émile Fourny and under the baton of Fabrizio Maria Carminati, Anastasia Bartoli will make her debut on the stage of the Sferisterio di Macerata stadium in the demanding role of Abigaille, one of today's most sought-after dramatic voices. Joining her, also making his first appearance at the Macerata Opera Festival, one of this year's most promising young baritones, Ariun Ganbaatar; alongside them, Laura Verrecchia as Fenena, Alessandro Scotto di Luzio, and bass-baritone Alberto Comes, appearing for the first time in the role of Zaccaria.
