A scenic and picturesque stage from Campagnano di Roma to La Storta, ideal for those who love excursions in the Agro Romano countryside, rich in nature, historic villages and archaeological sites. Most of the route is on tarmac and dirt roads, passing through valleys, historical sites and green areas.
You start from Campagnano di Roma, admiring the typical landscapes of the Lazio countryside, and soon enter the Veio Regional Park, a protected natural area with paths and wooded areas.
The route crosses the Valle del Sorbo, a stretch that is highly recommended for its natural beauty, where you will find the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Sorbo, an important point of historical and spiritual interest along the Via Francigena.
Continuing on, you reach the historic centre of Formello, an ancient village with characteristic views, and cross gentle hills with sweeping natural panoramas as far as Isola Farnese. Before arriving, you pass through hilly areas of the archaeological area of Veio with ancient remains and Etruscan villages, which further enrich the journey with a touch of millenary history.
Finally, you reach La Storta, a historic town located at the eastern entrance to Rome, characterised by a long tradition linked to the Via Cassia and the memory of the pilgrimage to the Eternal City.
