The itinerary of the variant of the Via Lauretana towards Camerino coincides with the one passing through Polverina, up to the convent of San Francesco di Pontelatrave, after passing the convent and taking the road on the right, you turn left instead of continuing straight towards the lake. After crossing the Romanesque bridge bearing witness to the crossroads function of Pievebovigliana, you find the building formerly used as a post office. From here, it is the shortcut to San Marcello, a small hamlet, you can easily reach the Malatesta gate, the entrance to the historic center of Camerino, where you can admire the little church of San Giacomo, to which a hospitalis from 1395 was annexed. In Piazza Santa Maria in Via there is the sanctuary that houses the icon of the Madonna and Child, dated 1350: tradition says that it was brought by the Crusaders from Smyrna. Continuing, you pass Palazzo Bongiovanni, arriving in Piazza Cavour, where the statue of Sixtus V stands, between the cathedral of the Santissima Annunziata, the Archbishop's Palace and the Ducal Palace. A little further on, you are in Piazza San Venanzio, where the basilica stands. Climbing up to Porta San Giovanni, you reach the Clarisse monastery, where you can find hospitality. Leaving Camerino, take the provincial road, full of religious sites: the historic convent of Renacavata., the church of San Gregorio di Dinazzano, boasting a sixteenth-century fresco of the Translation of the Holy House. Near Piedilapiaggia, downhill, you find the former hospital complex with the church. Eventually, passing through Campolarzo, a hamlet of the Municipality of Caldarola, the variant rejoins Polverina with the route of the sixteenth-century Via Lauretana."
